Medication-Assisted Treatment Program

Go Beyond Replacing One Drug for Another

At Arizona IOP, we use Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) selectively for clients who need extra support managing withdrawal, maintaining treatment engagement, and building lasting recovery. Our approach isn’t about replacing one substance with another—it’s about combining effective therapy and appropriate medication to help you regain stability and move forward.

MAT Medications We Offer

Our medical team uses evidence-based medications to help reduce cravings and manage withdrawal symptoms, supporting your progress toward lasting recovery through therapy.

MAT Therapies at Arizona IOP

While our medical team manages symptoms with targeted medications, our clinical staff focuses on helping you develop lasting recovery strategies that support your growth—with or without medication.

Behavioral Therapies

Although behavioral therapies are often used independently, they play a vital role in medication-assisted treatment. Our masters-level clinicians incorporate evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and motivational interviewing.

These methods have proven especially effective for individuals using MAT to remain engaged in treatment and build sustainable sobriety strategies.

Pain Management Techniques

Since many people turn to substance use as a way to cope with chronic pain, we’ve found that MAT can be an effective tool for managing pain while addressing addiction. In addition to medications that help relieve pain, we incorporate alternative treatments such as biofeedback, yoga, acupuncture, and more to help clients build healthy, sustainable coping strategies.

Trauma-Informed Strategies

Our therapists are trained across multiple disciplines to ensure clients receive the right support at the right time. While medication can help manage the physical and mental aspects of dependency, working with a trauma-informed therapist helps clients uncover the root causes of addiction and heal safely.

Our masters-level clinicians also use trauma-focused therapies such as Somatic Experiencing, massage therapy, psychodynamic therapy, EMDR, and more to promote deep and lasting recovery.

Holistic Treatment Approaches

At Arizona IOP, we focus on healing both the mind and body, making holistic treatments a cornerstone of our approach. Clients can experience alternative therapies such as tai chi, equine therapy, CES, and more.

These holistic methods empower clients with practical tools to manage triggers, strengthen resilience, and maintain a fulfilling, drug-free life.

FAQ

At Arizona IOP, therapy and medical consultations are included in the base cost of rehab. Certain medications used during treatment may incur additional costs, but our medical team works to keep them affordable and will verify insurance coverage for any prescribed medications.

MAT is designed to use medications as a tool for success, helping clients remain engaged in therapy for longer periods. Through therapy, clients can address the underlying causes of their addiction and, over time, may be able to reduce or discontinue medication use.

We understand that finding aftercare supportive of MAT can be challenging. Our case managers offer a range of “MAT-friendly” aftercare options to help you continue your treatment and maintain your recovery.
